As we mentioned above, the first time you'll actually need Grass Green Thread in Ni no Kuni 2 comes when you undertake side quest 006, the Skillful Seamstress quest. To complete this side quest and successfully recruit Pi Chi to your Evermore Kingdom, you'll need to get your hands on some Grass Green Thread, which isn't all that easy to come by.
Once you've completed Chapter 4 of Ni no Kuni 2, you'll be presented with the option to undertake a side quest for Min Ti, who resides in the Golden Paw region. This quest isn't difficult by any means, and all you have to do is venture out into the Calmlands with your party at your side and slay a number of specified monsters, before returning to Min Ti to claim your reward of five Grass Green Thread items. On top of this, Min Ti will also join you in Evermore, so completing this Sharpshooter side quest is one of the best ways of obtaining some easy Grass Green Thread.
Another method of earning yourself some Grass Green Thread in Ni no Kuni 2 is to simply venture out into the Rolling Hills area of the game, and defeat as many enemies as possible until you happen to stumble upon some Grass Green Thread as a reward.
